Description from the seller

Exceptional chess set with handmade pieces painted to the finest detail in vivid polychrome colors, carved in a compound of alabaster and marble that gives the pieces the firmness and hardness of marble and the finesse and moldability of alabaster. They represent the Battle of Thermopylae between Spartans and Persians in 480 BC.
The game pieces are of spectacular size, ranging from 12 cm for the kings to 9 cm for the pawns, and they are small works of art due to the great realism they exhibit in their shapes.
They represent the Spartan sides of Greece and the Persians who clashed at Thermopylae during the Second Persian War. On both sides they wage a grand battle on a fantastic and spectacular hand-made chessboard, crafted with top-quality materials and varnished in beautiful colors, with a good size of 45 x 45 cm.
The game is in good condition with some restoration on a few pieces and on the board, and with more than 20 years of age, and it still retains its original box. The photographs are part of the description.
It will be shipped securely, carefully packaged and with tracking.
