Montblanc Masterpiece 644 fountain pen with a black resin body, gold‑plated cap, 14k gold nib, 13.5 cm long and 1.2 cm in diameter, made in Germany in the mid‑20th century, in good used condition and in full working order.
Description from the seller
A0000003792
The Montblanc 644 fountain pen we present is in a very attractive condition, showing an elegant and well-maintained presence that reflects careful use over time.
The body and section, made of high-quality black resin, retain a deep, even shine. Very slight micro-scratches from use typical of a vintage piece can be seen only up close, but overall the material is very well preserved, with no cracks or deformations and with a clean overall aesthetic.
The gold-plated metal cap shows a natural patina that is very characteristic and gives the piece a pleasant vintage character. The surface shows even and elegant wear, with soft marks from the passage of time that do not affect the structural integrity of the cap. The clip retains its correct shape and functionality, maintaining good fit and alignment.
On the very top of the cap the Montblanc emblem is clearly visible, well defined and properly seated. The model number “644” engraving on the funnel remains visible, which helps correctly identify this reference within the brand’s classic series.
The original Montblanc 14-karat (14C) gold nib is in very good condition, with sharp engravings and no structural deformations. The nib tip has proper alignment and retains its proper shape, showing normal signs of use compatible with the piece’s age.
The ebonite feed is clean and well preserved, maintaining its intact structure and ink-feeding function.
The pen has been serviced and tested, delivered fully functional and ready for use, as is customary for pieces prepared by Collecting Legacy.
Overall, this is a Montblanc 644 with a very attractive vintage aesthetic, where the patina on the metal cap adds character without compromising the overall good condition of the piece.
Preservation recommendations
To keep this fountain pen in optimal condition, it is recommended to use high-quality inks specifically for fountain pens, avoiding pigmented inks or those with particles. If not used for an extended period, it is advisable to clean it with warm water, dry it completely before storing, and keep it in a dry place, out of direct light and away from extreme temperatures. The mechanism should always be operated gently to ensure its correct durability.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper conservation.
