This annual release continues Longrow’s tradition of producing heavily peated whisky with depth, texture and unmistakable coastal influence. This bottling delivers a powerful yet nuanced profile, shaped by its high strength and distinctive cask marriage. The nose opens with an intriguing mix of redcurrants, Madagascan vanilla and cured meats, alongside peppercorns and an immediate ashy note that signals the whisky’s smoky core. The palate builds in intensity as the peat smoke deepens, bringing flavours of tobacco, cigar smoke, dark fruits and worn leather. The finish is long and assertive, driven by a lively spiciness reminiscent of chilli peppers, supported by cherry menthol and a lingering thread of peat smoke that carries through to the very end The very smoky Longrow Peated is produced at the Springbank distillery and matured in a combination of Bourbon and sherry casks. The Single Malt is very strong, smoky and intense, making it very similar to its rivals from the nearby island of Islay, although it comes from Campbeltown on the Kintyre peninsula. The malt for the Longrow is kilned over peat fires for 48 hours, which is twice as long as Springbank bottlings. The whisky is double distilled and only less than 100 casks are bottled each year. Longrow Peated offers lovers of heavily peated whiskies the opportunity to enjoy a lingering, smoky taste that wanders through the senses with subtle sweetness, fruit and creaminess.
