Aldo Gentilini (1911-1982), Composizione, acrylic painting on canvas, 40 × 50 cm, in good condition, signed at the front, original edition, sold with frame, from Italy, dated 1970–1980.
Description from the seller
Acrylic on canvas.
Maestro Aldo Gentilini.
In good condition.
Signed on the front bottom, while on the back there is the Authenticity directly made by the artist.
Canvas dimensions 40 x 50 cm.
A detail, as with all of his works, and unusual due to the modest size, this work by Master Aldo Gentilini is part of a private collection.
It is certainly an interesting piece for someone with a small space to furnish and enliven with taste, in Abstract style, and it comes with its original frame which is in good condition, but without the glass which could be re-glassed if desired.
The images shown are an integral part of the description.
It will be packed with great care and shipped by express courier with tracking.
Aldo Gentilini was born in Genoa in 1911; from a young age he felt a strong religious vocation that led him to enter the Pietrasanta cloister monastery, where he stayed for three years pursuing philosophical studies, before dedicating himself as a self-taught artist to artistic research, which would lead him to exhibit in numerous shows in Italy and abroad.
A man of faith, he believes that only through art can one reach the divine. And this belief will underlie all his work:
"I try to create emptiness – Gentilini declared – This emptiness provokes a certain catharsis in me: I observe sensitive values that I respect, re-evaluate them, but I never know how I will fall into the painting, and this is the realization of a truth toward the sign never thought of."
He was an artist who practiced asceticism, to imitate the Saint to whom he was devoted. The two natures, human and aesthetic, coincide perfectly.
