We are offering at auction a magnificent and rare set of 20 pieces in lead crystal from the prestigious Baccarat crystal works, model Talleyrand.

Created in the 1930s, the Talleyrand model is a masterful, modernist variant of the famous Harcourt service. It is distinguished by its exceptional cut work with six wide flat facets and its massive circular base. The absolute purity of Baccarat crystal coupled with these geometric lines provides spectacular light refraction.

Lot composition (20 pieces in total):

2 carafes for wine or spirits with their original stoppers cut to match (Height: 20 cm).

6 water goblets (Height: 10.8 cm).

6 red wine glasses (Height: 8.7 cm).

6 white wine or port glasses (Height: 8 cm).

Authenticity and dating:
This service is a fascinating testament to the history of the manufactory, gathering pieces from two production periods of the same model:

3 glasses bear the circular Baccarat acid-etched mark under the base (production after 1936).

The other 17 pieces (including the carafes) are older productions (circa 1930). In keeping with Baccarat practices before 1936, these pieces were not acid-etched; identification at the time was done with simple paper labels. The presence of the 3 signed glasses, identical in every respect (size, density, tone), attests to the absolute authenticity of the set. Model perfectly listed in the Baccarat catalog.

Condition:
Exceptional condition. The set has been extremely well preserved.
Crystal is perfectly clear, with great brilliance, without any haze or calcite trace. No chips, cracks, or nicks reported on the glasses as well as on the carafes and their stoppers.
