This flower is made entirely by hand in Murano using the traditional lamp-working technique.
The master glassmaker uses a colored glass rod, brought to a malleable temperature by the flame of a gas-powered lamp. The glass, once malleable, is shaped and wrapped around a thin metal support, allowing the desired form to be obtained.
The lamp-working technique enables the creation of extremely detailed subjects, such as flowers, animals, and small decorative elements.
In the case of flowers, once the bud and leaves are finished, the piece is hand-inserted onto a silk-wrapped stem and reinforced with wire, so it can be used for arrangements, decorations, and displays.
