A set of six porcelain coffee cups with matching saucers, each cup 5.4 cm high and 6.8 cm in diameter with saucers 11.3 cm diameter, decorated by hand under the mark Décor Main, made in France, dating to 1970–1980, in good used condition with minor age-related marks.
Description from the seller
Set of 6 coffee cups height 5.4 x diameter 6.8 cm with the corresponding saucer diameter 11.3 cm stamped on the bottom: Décor Main: a French term for "Hand painted". It indicates that the ornamental motifs (especially the gold details and cobalt blue rims) were applied manually by an artisan and not via industrial decals. The main decor is enclosed in a shield- or "cartouche"-shaped frame, outlined in cobalt blue and powder blue. Inside, a stylized floral motif painted in gold stands out.
Made in France: Certifies the French origin of the porcelain. This type of mark is extremely common in Limoges production, the French region famed for porcelain. Often, small ateliers or decoration studios bought the porcelain "white" (called blanc de Limoges) from large factories and decorated it internally. In these cases, instead of stamping the factory name (like Haviland, Bernardaud, etc.), they placed a generic mark that guaranteed the quality of the manual decoration.
In summary. Production: French porcelain, almost certainly from the Limoges area. Period: from the style of the mark and the cup, it is probably a production from the second half of the 20th century (the 1960s-1980s).
