Description from the seller

Superb René Lalique-era vase (1860-1945) on a satin white and transparent crystal footed base with a decoration of acanthus leaves, model “Saint-Cloud” made during the master glassmaker’s period in the first half of the 20th century.

This emblematic model perfectly illustrates the aesthetic developed by René Lalique, blending botanical inspiration, elegant forms, and technical mastery of pressed-moured glass.

The piece bears the signature “LALIQUE FRANCE” engraved on the wheel, a mark used by Lalique for productions produced from original molds.

The relief decoration, characteristic of the Saint-Cloud model, offers a subtle play of light typical of Lalique creations.

This René Lalique vase has been superbly preserved; it is magnificent, and will fit into any type of interior decor. Two photos of the piece in a contemporary, chic bohemian setting have been included in the first photos to give an idea of the striking effect it can achieve.

History of René Lalique:

A revolutionary artist, renowned jeweler of the Belle Époque, favorite of Sarah Bernhardt, admired by Gallé, René Lalique aroused extraordinary worldwide enthusiasm, nicknamed the “Rodin of transparencies” by Maurice Rostand. Lalique created a timeless and graceful art with resounding success. An exceptional jeweler and great master of glass, René Lalique is among the leading creators of Art Nouveau and Art Deco.
Since 1921, the workshop located in Alsace, a region with a long tradition of glassmaking, continues artisanal know-how. The hand of man, artist-craftsman of the material, stamps objects with his imprint and gives them that strength, this presence that feels almost immaterial: Our know-how.
The Lalique style is born from the artist’s gesture sketching a drawing in total harmony with the material, a style recognizable by the manual shaping of pieces and decors, like sculpture, by the richness of the figurative decor, and the finishes that give this characteristic contrast of clear crystal and satin finish. Nourished by the creativity of a lineage of extraordinary artists, the Lalique universe is rich in know-how that ranges from tableware to decoration, from jewelry to perfumes.
