Description from the seller
Pino Spagnolo for BD-Design - Nutcracker
This elegant nutcracker is a piece of contemporary design consisting of a two-tone solid wood cubic bowl, brand BS design by Pino Spagnolo.
In the center of the block is carved a wide polished hemispherical basin, ideal for holding nuts or collecting shells. On the sides of the basin there are two small rectangular recesses that serve as housings for the metal nut-cracking tool.
The BD Design brand is particularly appreciated for the quality of its laminations. After decades, as your photos show, the joints between the different woods are still perfect, a sign of impeccable wood seasoning carried out at the time of production.
This imposing nutcracker produced by
BD Design represents the excellence of the woodworking craft of the last century.
Crafted in laminated solid wood, the piece plays on the chromatic contrast between light and dark woods (likely maple and walnut), arranged in perfectly calibrated parallel strips.
Construction:
The laminating technique is not only aesthetic but structural: it gives the block exceptional resistance to pressure, essential for its function as a nutcracker.
Features: It features a large central hemispherical hollow and two rectangular side notches, a stylistic signature of the brand, which facilitate grip and positioning.
Condition: The extraordinary weight of nearly 3 kg ensures exceptional stability, making it a sculptural centerpiece for the table, typical of BD Design's
"gentle-brutalist" production.
