On 12th of February 1947 around 10:38 local time an incredible spectacle took place in the East of Siberia: A large iron meteorite entered the earthly atmosphere and was slowed down more or less by 50.000 km/h It burst during the flight through the atmosphere and broke in 4 large break phases The event was accompanied by deafening thunder Thousands of massive iron pieces - the largest with a weight of more than 1.7 tons rained down on an elliptical scattering field of approx. 1.6 square kilometres
