Mid‑century wall pocket vase in glazed ceramic, ca. 1960–1970, featuring three tubular vases on a wall plaque, crème with turquoise/green drip glaze, 23 cm high, 15 cm wide, 7 cm deep, in good vintage condition with minor signs of age and a small chip on the underside.
Description from the seller
Vintage ceramic wall vase / wall pocket – 1960s–70s – sculptural design with drip glaze
A particularly decorative mid-century wall vase from the 1960s–70s, featuring a striking sculptural form and characterful glaze. This type of ceramic wall vase – also known as a wall pocket – became popular in the mid-century period as a decorative element for small flowers, dried flowers, or small branches.
The design consists of three cylindrical vases on a wall plate: two slim tube-shaped elements on the sides and a central round holder. The form recalls a small architectural composition and gives the object a nearly modernist character.
The vase is made of ceramic with a handsome drip glaze in crème and turquoise/green tones. This glaze technique was especially popular in the 1960s and 1970s and creates unique color transitions and a vibrant, almost organic look. Due to the firing process, each piece is different, which gives the item an authentic studio-ceramics character.
Thanks to its compact size, this wall vase is ideal for small flowers, herbs, or decorative twigs. Even without contents, it forms an attractive mid-century design object that fits perfectly in vintage, Scandinavian, bohemian, or modernist interiors.
Ceramic wall vases – also known as wall pockets – have been made since the 18th century, but gained renewed popularity in the 20th century as decorative wall accessories in modern interiors.
