Description from the seller
Beautiful bronze statue representing Shakyamuni Buddha seated in vajrasana, right hand in bhumisparsha mudra, touching the earth as witness, the right hand resting on his heel, wearing the samghati, with a serene and gentle expression, almond-shaped half-closed eyes, elongated lobes, in meditation.
The "ball" he holds in his left hand is the stylized representation of the Vitarka Mudra and symbolizes the transmission of teaching.
Attention, resin has been poured inside, probably to make the statue more stable; the core is therefore not visible but there is no doubt about the antiquity of the piece.
Burma, Ava period, 18th century.
Height: 31.5 cm. Width: 15.5 cm. Depth: 9.7 cm. Weight: 2803 g
Attention, resin has been poured inside, probably to make the statue more stable; the core is therefore not visible but there is no doubt about the antiquity of the piece.
STATE
The statue is in a decent condition, showing signs of its age, oxidation, small loss at the bottom of the base. See photos.
THE SELLER
I have been traveling across Asia for 30 years and more specifically Burma (Myanmar) where I have forged numerous contacts with dealers, which has allowed me and still allows me to buy ancient objects; I also buy on the European market depending on opportunities. Jean Dumoulin.
Will be packed with the greatest care, insured and traceable shipping.
