Panamarenko (1940-2019) - Pastilles

Very beautiful and complete artist's edition by Panamarenko, Pastilles (backpack edition), from 1989. This rare book-object belongs to a limited edition of only 200 numbered and signed copies – this copy is no. 126/200 and hand-signed by the artist.

The work is conceived as a conceptual book object around the “Pastille Motor”, in which Panamarenko develops his typical combination of art, technology and imagination. This edition is regarded as one of his most characteristic multiples.

This copy is complete and contains all original components: the book “Pastilles, from a journey to the stars” (about 100 pages), richly illustrated with colour images, partly fold-out and with relief; a folder with 5 colour facsimiles of design sketches; a smaller bound-in folder with 10 facsimiles of calculations and notes; an original box “Motors Pastilles” with 12 black-and-white photographs of the Pastille Motor; in addition also 2 extra colour photos that come with this copy; all in the original box with a sliding lid.

The whole measures about 24 × 32 × 7 cm (4° format).

In very good to excellent condition and fully complete. The book and contents are very well preserved, all loose elements are present and in very good condition. The box shows light signs of aging and use, as is usual with this type of object, but is sturdy and intact. Generally a carefully preserved and attractive copy.

Complete copies of this edition, certainly with all loose elements and accompanying photos, are increasingly scarce on the market and are sought after by Panamarenko collectors and artists' books enthusiasts.
