Description from the seller
Elegant bowl from the renowned ceramic production of Max Roesler, Rodach (Bavaria), dating to the late Art Nouveau / early Art Deco period around 1900 to 1925.
The piece captivates with its architecturally structured form, clearly segmented walls, and finely worked, pierced ornamentation. The decorative cutouts display stylized, geometrically entwined motifs with hints of Neo-Gothic shapes, lending the piece a special lightness and transparency. This elaborate piercing work is a characteristic feature of Roesler’s production and sets the piece clearly apart from simple serial ware.
The raised foot with a faceted design emphasizes the commanding presence of the stand and gives it an elegant, almost architectural presence. The warm, cream-colored glaze appears calm and noble, highlighting the relief of the details.
Inside there is a central opening, originally intended to hold an insert (e.g., glass or metal), allowing the object to be used both as a confectionary bowl and as a small jardinière stand.
The underside bears the typical blue manufacturer mark of Max Roesler as well as the impressed model number 3853, enabling unambiguous identification.
The condition is overall good with age-related signs of wear. At the foot rim there are three tiny, barely visible chips (see photos).
The bowl comes from a private ceramic collection.
