A collection of four hand-formed, glazed ceramic pieces from Vallauris, France, dating to ca. 1950–1970.
Description from the seller
Beautiful collection of vintage Vallauris ceramics – leaf-shaped bowls & Fat Lava ashtray (ca. 1950–1970)
Offered is a remarkable and decorative collection of vintage ceramics from Vallauris, the famous French potters’ town renowned worldwide for its artistic wares.
This collection includes several expressive leaf-shaped bowls and a characterful “vide poche”/ashtray, executed in the characteristic ecume- or lava glaze technique. The thick, flowing glazes create a lively and almost volcanic surface with rich color nuances.
What makes this set special:
- Leaf-shaped bowls with organic forms and warm hues such as orange, brown and polychrome accents (red, green, purple)
- Fat Lava ashtray / vide poche with an asymmetric design and typical relief glaze
- Large centerpiece bowls, ideal as a fruit bowl or decorative object
- Hand-formed and unique – no two pieces are alike
These pieces date from the period 1950–1970 and reflect the creative flowering of Vallauris, partly stimulated by artists such as Pablo Picasso, who put the region on the international map.
Specifications:
Origin: Vallauris, France
Material: Hand-formed and glazed ceramic
Style: Mid-Century Modern / South French earthenware
Dimensions: ranging from small ashtrays to large bowls (up to ca. 45 cm)
Condition: In good vintage condition with light signs of use appropriate to the age
A unique opportunity to acquire an authentic and atmospheric collection of French vintage ceramics – perfect for mid-century design enthusiasts, artistic tableware, or as a striking interior accent.
