Pitcher - Copper - Qajar period jug

A large and impressive antique copper jug dating to the Qajar period (19th century), finely hand-hammered and richly decorated in repoussé technique. The body is adorned with a continuous frieze depicting courtly and possibly epic scenes, featuring figures in traditional attire, musicians, and attendants, executed in detailed low relief. The upper and lower registers are embellished with floral and geometric motifs typical of Persian metalwork of the period. The jug is made from heavy gauge copper, giving it a substantial weight and presence. Traces of original tinning are visible, creating a striking contrast between the warm copper tones and the silvery highlights of the engraved decoration. A fine example of Qajar decorative metalwork, combining narrative figural art with traditional craftsmanship. Condition: Good antique condition with age-related wear, surface patina, and oxidation consistent with age. No major structural damage. Dimensions: Height: 34 cm Base diameter: 25 cm Weight: approx. 2.5 kg
