Description from the seller
Royal Delft Cloisonné Tile – "The Resistance and the Dragon" – 1945 WWII Liberation
This original polychrome cloisonné tile was manufactured in 1945 by the renowned Dutch pottery factory De Porceleyne Fles (Royal Delft).
The piece was designed by the celebrated artist Henk Tieman as part of a series commemorating the Dutch Liberation. It features powerful symbolism, depicting the Dutch Resistance (Verzet) fighting a large dragon that bears a swastika on its head.
Below the scene, the Dutch text "Den Vaderland Ghetrouwe 1940 - 1945" is displayed on a banner. The tile measures approximately 20 x 14.5 cm and remains in its authentic vintage condition.
