Topeng, lit. 'mask' is a dramatic form of Indonesian dance in which one or more mask-wearing, ornately costumed performers interpret traditional narratives concerning fabled kings, heroes and myths, accompanied by gamelan or other traditional music instruments Topeng dance is a typical Indonesian dance that can be found in various regions in Indonesia. Topeng dance has the main characteristic that the dancers use masks to cover their faces. The dance will usually be performed by one dancer or a group of dancers. This mask is an old one (pls look at last photo of backside) and it has a beautiful patina of the old pant and wood. Sone scratches and scufs which is normal for its age and contributes to the authenticity of the item. On stand it reaches a height of 43cm. The item itself measures aprox 28x18x20cm, the ears can move which proves this is an original iten! Unique collectors item!
