Labelled Simonazzi Riccardo - 4/4 - - Violin - Unknown

A fine full-size (4/4) violin, bearing the label: “Simonazzi Riccardo, figlio ed allievo di Amedeo, fece in Reggio nell’Emilia, anno 1954.” This instrument is preserved in very good condition, free from cracks, which is particularly noteworthy for a violin of its age. It has been recently set up with new rosewood pegs and new strings, ensuring reliable tuning stability and immediate playability. The violin is crafted in an elegant and well-proportioned model, displaying a beautiful natural amber patina that has developed over time. This warm, lightly aged varnish enhances the visual depth of the instrument and highlights the quality of the underlying tonewoods, giving it a refined and distinguished character. Measurements are as follows: back length 360 mm; upper bout 162 mm; middle bout 113 mm; lower bout 201 mm; total length 591 mm. Tonally, the instrument is very appealing, offering a sweet and richly colored sound with notable power and projection. The voice is well-balanced across all registers, combining warmth and depth with clarity, making it suitable for both advanced players and demanding musicians. Violins and bows described as 'certified' or 'attributed' include images of their certificates and are therefore considered to have a higher degree of documented certainty regarding maker, origin, and age than instruments described only as 'labelled' (violins) or 'stamped' (bows), for which we provide no guarantee of any kind
