Three white wooden duck figures in a realist style, dating from 1975–1995, with the largest measuring 35 × 20 × 14 cm and weighing 1850 g, and two smaller ducks at 28 × 15 × 10.5 cm (≈300 g) and 27 × 14 × 9 cm (≈300 g); origin Netherlands, in good used condition with minor signs of age and spots.
Description from the seller
Three very beautiful decorative decoy ducks. The largest is 35 cm wide, 20 cm high, 14 cm deep and weighs 1850 g; the second is 15 cm high, 28 cm wide, 10.5 cm deep with a weight of 300 g; and the third is 14 cm high, 27 cm wide, 9 cm deep with a weight of 300 g. The pieces probably date from the last quarter of the previous century and look very nice. Here and there there is some wear visible. For example, you can see spots where the varnish has worn away on the large duck and a portion of the gesso (old-fashioned ground primer based on lime with animal binder) is visible. Also very typical of this kind of lure animals is the attachment of the head to the body. The hull was always separated from the head, after which the head was glued onto the hull. The joint is clearly visible on this large duck (see photos).
The two smaller ducks look very good, without significant signs of wear. Notably, these ducks have expressive eyes.
The two small ducks were probably never used as decoys, but the large one probably was, hence the wear. Also the bottom, where a remnant of felt remains, appears somewhat affected by moisture. Originally, these were very likely not a matching set, but these figures share many similarities and fit together very well; in form, expression, and color.
These beautifully carved wooden ducks are very decorative. They fit into any interior. Imagine a white cabinet with this trio of waterfowl and a spotlight on them; very beautiful!
The ducks are carefully packed and insured when shipped.
