Description from the seller
Large antique brooch, late 19th century, early 20th century, in solid silver, Oriental-inspired workmanship, probably from artisanal production in Southeast Europe under Ottoman influence.
The brooch features a richly pierced structure with an ornate design comprising a central red glass cabochon imitating garnet. At the top there is a small glass stone imitating turquoise. At the lateral ends, two small white cabochons, probably wax beads, complete the piece. A small rhinestone is also visible in the lower part.
Traces of vermeil are visible in places, creating a subtle contrast with the silver and highlighting certain decorative elements. A slight wear is observable on the small beads, consistent with the piece’s age.
The metal is solid silver. It has been verified using an appropriate acid test for silver; the reaction yielded a clear red coloration, indicating a good silver content.
On the back, a small decorative element bears characters suggesting an Oriental or Arabic inscription.
The pin is made of steel, as is often the case with antique jewelry to ensure greater durability.
Dimensions: approximately 6.2 cm in width and 5 cm in height (including the pin length).
Weight: approximately 25.2 g.
Good antique condition with patina consistent with age.
The brooch has been carefully examined and described with the utmost accuracy to ensure a faithful presentation of the object.
Please read the description carefully and check the dimensions before purchase.
Photos are an integral part of the description and allow assessment of the item's condition.
Antique or vintage jewelry that has been worn: light signs of wear may be present.
Careful and well-protected shipping after payment.
