Description from the seller

ANCIENT NUBIAN-BEDOUIN FOREARM BRACELET WITH HIGH-QUALITY STAMPED SILVER PENDANTS, EGYPT/SUDAN, EARLY 1900s.

Rigid bracelet of circular shape, formed by a wide arched rectangular plate in heavy silver sheet finely decorated with filigree, circular motifs, granulation, and application of geometric elements. The back part consists of a thin band entirely incised and carved with stylized floral motifs incised with a burin. At the bottom the bracelet bears silver elements in the shape of an “H” that are swiveling since linked (the small rings are also stamped silver), each of which is likewise stamped: currently the Bracelet carries 5 pendants under the rectangular band and 2 (one on each side) laterally. Originally the jewelry bore three more, two of which are missing.

Two of the silver “H” pendant elements are missing as well as all the small bells that were hanging beneath each of them; one of the silver elements is attached but detached from the bracelet.

Fascinating Bedouin forearm bracelet in excellent condition, apart from the reported missing parts.
It is certainly a rare authentic and original piece in all its parts, a jewel of great charm and personality. One of a kind.

Measurements: External Ø 9 cm; internal Ø 8.5 cm.

Width of the arched rectangular band: 4 x 10.5 cm.

External circumference of the bracelet approx. 28.5 cm. The bracelet is not perfectly circular but rather elliptical to facilitate wearing. In its narrowest part it measures 7.5 cm.

Age: early 20th century.

Origin: Egypt / Sudan.

Total weight: 156.2 g.
