Description from the seller
Fascinating and iconic French advertising poster illustrated by Montaut, one of the most important artists of the early twentieth century linked to the world of automobiles and the earliest technical innovations.
Note: This is a later edition from the 1970s.
The work presents in an extraordinarily symbolic way the passage from bondage to freedom, with a powerful visual allegory: on one side oppressed and slowed-down figures, on the other a dynamic female figure who runs thanks to the elastic wheel “Roussel,” symbol of progress, speed and modernity. A striking advertising message, typical of early-century graphics, where art and communication merge in a masterful way.
Montaut is known for his compositions devoted to the world of engines, racing and technical innovations, and this subject fits perfectly into his most sought-after and collected production.
