Description from the seller

Pair of animal bookends – Artistic metal chamois – Art Deco Era (1920s–1930s)

Elegant pair of bookends depicting chamois, crafted with a fine sense of movement and great finesse in the rendering of the horns and volumes. The subjects rest on bases of Portoro black marble, richly veined, providing a refined contrast with the metal's golden patina.

This type of production fully belongs to the tradition of the French animalier school of the early 20th century, very popular during the Art Deco period. The style evokes the creations of the great animal sculptors of the era, with a naturalistic yet decorative approach.

Objects that are both functional and decorative, these bookends will find their place perfectly in a library, an office, or an elegant interior.
