Description from the seller
Outstanding trumpet-shaped liqueur carafe, made of transparent engraved glass from the Art Nouveau period - circa 1900.
Four-footed mount, openwork relief decoration of ribbons and flowers with, at the center of the two faces, fluid lines with scrolls inspired by nature and a profile of a nymph by Alphonse Mucha, adorned with flowing hair and a poppy flower.
Mouthpiece mounting with a wide raised spout in the shape of a tongue, decorated with floral motifs and ribbon-like ornaments, domed stopper with an ovoid knop, pressed on both sides with floral motifs. Long curved openwork handle.
Manufactured by WMF AG Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik Geislingen Germany for grand restaurants, cruise ships, etc.
Punch mark: B, WMF ostrich mark, I/O
"B": alloy containing tin, known as Britannia metal.
"I/O" indicates a normal thickness of silver deposited on the surface of the metal, about 1 gram of silver per 1 dm² of surface.
The two-letter inscription "a/s" indicates artificial darkening of the surface to an almost black color, called antique silver.
