Description from the seller
Original work by Mimmo Rotella, undisputed master of décollage and central figure of European art in the second half of the twentieth century.
The works belong to the famous cycle dedicated to cinema, in which Rotella reworks original film posters through the technique of tearing and recomposition, transforming the popular image into a powerful contemporary visual language. The torn fragments, overlapped and reassembled generate a dynamic tension between image and memory, between cultural icon and artistic gesture.
This work is based on the celebrated film “La magnifica preda” (River of No Return), with Marilyn Monroe and Robert Mitchum, icons of classic Hollywood cinema.
The composition features strong visual stratification, with tears and overlaps that create a dynamic and fragmented image, typical of Rotella’s artistic language.
The works are hand-signed and bear the dry stamp of the Fondazione Mimmo Rotella, an element that guarantees authenticity and strengthens their collectible value.
