Description from the seller

Condition: good, only normal signs of aging and use, otherwise in very good condition. beautiful natural patina.

Very decorative and finely executed bronze sculpture of a dancing Krishna-like devata, originating from India and dating from around 1900-1950. The figure is depicted in an elegant tribhanga pose (triple body bend), a classic pose within Indian sculpture that expresses grace and movement.
The graceful stance, the rich detailing of jewelry and clothing, and the expressive hand gestures refer to the iconography of Krishna as the divine dancer, a beloved theme within Hindu art.
The statue is crafted according to the traditional cire perdue (lost-wax) technique, where each piece is unique. This is visible on the open underside and the subtle, handmade finish. The beautiful, deep brown patina and its solid weight give the piece a warm and authentic feel.
Such sculptures were produced as devotional objects and as refined decorative artworks, inspired by older temple traditions from South India.
