Description from the seller

Felice Antonio Botta Biography:

Felice Botta was born in Florence in 1931 and from a young age he pursued the art of craftsmanship. He received his training at the Istituto d'arte of Florence, guided by the renowned woodblock printer Pietro Parigi. His quest for the “truth of the simple” led him to appreciate modest materials, especially recycled ones, such as driftwood or recycled paper. Using these resources, he created sculptures that took him far from his hometown: from Tokyo in the Eighties to New York in the early Nineties, from the Milan Triennale to his candidacy for the Compasso d'Oro in 1970.

Among his more recent achievements are the famous “Artist’s Stamps,” used as letter closures, as a personal logo, ex libris, to send greetings, or to create bookmarks. In his workshop “Interno 9” in Bagno a Ripoli, Felice Botta also made T-shirts, bags, aprons, notebooks, telephone directories, planners, photo albums and diaries, using recycled paper or hand-printed material with the star-stone (torchio a stella) technique, in addition to woodcuts. His wealth of artisanal knowledge was very broad.

He presents a complete chessboard with original box, in excellent condition and complete with the pieces (see photo), dating from 1973, made of Lucite.
Dimensions: 40x40 chessboard; chess pieces 9 cm tall, checkers pieces 2 cm tall.

Fast shipping, careful packing, any customs duties at the buyer’s expense.
