Deze kan is vervaardigd in 1959 door De Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles / Royal Delft, de laatst overgebleven 17e-eeuwse Delftse aardewerkfabriek, opgericht in 1653 in Delft en nog altijd actief met handbeschilderd Delfts blauw volgens traditionele werkwijzen.

De kan is uitgevoerd in klassiek Delfts blauw op een witte tinglazuurgrond, met een decor van gestileerde bloemen, bladeren en ornamentale krullen rondom buik en hals. De bolle vorm, de hoge voet en het sierlijk gevormde oor geven het object een verfijnde uitstraling, kenmerkend voor de productie van Royal Delft uit het midden van de 20e eeuw.

De onderzijde draagt het jaarmerk voor 1959, waarmee de datering kan worden bevestigd.
