Description from the seller
Christofle – Sauce boat with original silver-plated plate – Louis XV style – France, 19th century
Refined sauce boat with original silver-plated plate, made by the prestigious Christofle Maison, the historic Parisian manufactory founded in 1830 and synonymous with excellence in French silverware.
The piece stands out for its elegant Louis XV (rocaille) design, with flowing profiles, shaped edges and rich shell, scroll and botanical decorations, executed with great finesse.
The sauce boat features a double curved handle with a prominent central shell motif, while the plate rests on three decorated feet, a typical solution for high-end silverware intended for aristocratic dining services.
On the body there is an engraved monogram, testimony to private patronage and another element of historical-collectible interest.
The visible Christofle hallmarks confirm the piece’s authenticity and manufacturing quality.
A object of great charm, ideal for both collectors of 19th-century French silver and as a decorative piece for representation.
