Description from the seller
Important landscape painting depicting a countryside scene.

Painting of excellent workmanship, the painted surface is particularly cared for with passages of notable quality.
Signed Giuseppe Cavalla: Torino 1859 – 1935
Initiated into art by his father Francesco, a decorator, he studied at the Accademia Albertina with A. Moja, E. Gamba and A. Gastaldi. The academic training had a decisive influence on the artist's production, never detached from conventional professionalism and essentially tied to a theoretical direction consistent with the teaching role he held at the Academy for forty years. Cavalla was also a portraitist, scenographer, and author of graceful genre scenes (Idyll, Torino, Galleria Civica d’Arte Moderna) that he exhibited at the annual shows of the Promotrice torinese (1884, Bonjour mon vieil ami; 1896, Preparazione agli esami; 1898, Alla banca di beneficenza). (Comanducci ed. 1962)
