Description from the seller

Important landscape painting depicting a countryside scene.
Oil on cardboard.
Painting of excellent workmanship, the painted surface is particularly cared for with passages of notable quality.

Signed Giuseppe Cavalla: Torino 1859 – 1935
Initiated into art by his father Francesco, a decorator, he studied at the Accademia Albertina with A. Moja, E. Gamba and A. Gastaldi. The academic training had a decisive influence on the artist's production, never detached from conventional professionalism and essentially tied to a theoretical direction consistent with the teaching role he held at the Academy for forty years. He specialized in sacred mural decoration, often working in collaboration with his father and with R. Morgari. Cavalla was also a portraitist, scenographer, and author of graceful genre scenes (Idyll, Torino, Galleria Civica d’Arte Moderna) that he exhibited at the annual shows of the Promotrice torinese (1884, Bonjour mon vieil ami; 1896, Preparazione agli esami; 1898, Alla banca di beneficenza). (Comanducci ed. 1962)

No conservation problems are evident.
Size of the painting 45x33 cm
Frame 47x60 cm

Quadr o of great painterly quality, that follows all the canons of the era

Provenance: private collection

The painting will be packed and shipped in a professional manner and insured.
