Description from the seller

This is a unique specimen of an original Dutch tram bell, an authentic element of the history of rail transport in the Netherlands.
The device is made from solid brass, which guarantees its distinctive, clear, and very loud sound, essential to cut through the noise inside a moving tram car.
The construction is based on a precise lever mechanism aided by a steel return spring, which after each pull of the cord immediately returns the striking arm to its starting position.
A distinctive technical detail are two white guide rollers that stabilized the mechanism's operation and protected the cable from wear during intensive use.
In old trams, such bells were mounted under the interior ceiling of the cars, where they served passengers to signal their wish to alight from the vehicle or allowed the conductor to issue a signal to depart.
This item, due to its authenticity and preserved condition, is a valuable artifact for collectors of technical memorabilia and enthusiasts of historic urban transport, documenting the equipment standards of Dutch tram networks from the past century.
