Sterling silver jewellery/toiletry box, model portaoggetti, measuring 11 × 6 × 3.5 cm, made in the United Kingdom by Thomas Bradbury & Sons, dated 1902 with Chester Assay Office marks, in very good condition.
Description from the seller
The image shows a refined jewelry/touching box in sterling silver, featuring a rich work in relief and chasing in sterling silver 925 produced in Chester in 1902 by the firm Thomas Bradbury & Sons. The numbers on the left ("z 5") are usually the manufacturer’s serial numbers or inventory codes. T & S is the silversmith’s mark (Maker’s Mark). In this case it probably corresponds to the firm Thomas Bradbury & Sons, a famous Sheffield workshop active for almost two centuries. This type of object, often from the Victorian era or the early 20th century, typically features decorations in Baroque or Rococo style with foliate scrolls, floral motifs, and plain reserves intended for possible personalized engravings.
The Walking Lion: this symbol guarantees the silver’s fineness at 925/1000 (Sterling Silver). It is the standard British guarantee mark.
Shield with three sheaves of wheat and a sword: It is the mark of the Chester Assay Office.
Letter "B" in script is the date letter. In particular Chester’s style and shield, this letter indicates that the item was produced in 1902.
Stamps and the silver’s fineness are clearly visible inside and outside the box (see photo). The lot will be properly packaged and shipped with reputable couriers and online tracking.
