Description from the seller

Beautiful framed drawing.

Peter de Smet (Amsterdam, July 4, 1944 – Amsterdam, January 6, 2003) was a Dutch comic strip artist. He is best known for his humorous comic De Generaal.

Peter de Smet was born on July 4, 1944, in Amsterdam. Because his father was co-owner of an advertising agency, he too began a career in advertising after his MULO education, working at several agencies in Amsterdam, Antwerp and Brussels.

In his spare time he drew comic stories. In 1968 he managed to have one of these stories, the humorous knight strip Fulco, published in the Belgian magazine Het Kapoentje. Because of illness he had to abandon this story halfway.

In 1985 he received the Stripschap Prize for his entire body of work.

Seller's Story

Paper Hills grew out of a hobby, a passion that got out of hand, maybe even a minor obsession. Since the beginning of 2021 we have decided to really go for it. Paper Hills, officially got off the ground. Hi, my name is Alexander Custers, owner of Paper Hills. A company specialized in the purchase and sale of antique stationery. Alexander comes from a family of collectors, the extensive and unique stamp collection of his grandfather and father certainly contributed to this. A new interest in this beautiful profession was aroused when he saw old maps of his own village, Sint Geertruid, and beautiful Limburg. The hobby grew into a passion until it turned out that, together with him, many others were interested in collecting and reviewing maps showing old images. The old images on these cards often bring back beautiful memories in people.
