Our sculpture is a copy of the famous marble statue 'Mars and Venus' by Antonio Canova. Venus is partially draped and looks up at Mars, who wears a helmet in Roman centurion style and holds a spear.

This magnificent sculpture of the Roman gods 'Mars and Venus' is of high quality and stands on a marble block.

It was commissioned in 1815 by the Prince Regent for Carlton House during Canova's visit to London to view the Elgin Marbles.

The statue symbolizes an allegory of war and peace after the British victory over Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.
