Description from the seller

Antique Rustic Terracotta and Wood Pipe - Handcrafted - 24 cm - Collectible Item

An intriguing example of a handcrafted pipe, made with natural materials according to the techniques of traditional folk craftsmanship. This type of pipe, often called a "earth pipe,” was very common between the 18th and early 20th centuries for its ability to offer a cool smoke thanks to the porosity of the terracotta.

Material Details and Craftsmanship:
Fornello (Head): Made of natural terracotta with an earthy color. The surface is decorated with raised motifs (geometric or herringbone incisions) which, besides an aesthetic function, aid grip and heat dissipation. The raised on the base of the fornello suggests traditional manual manufacture.

Cannello: A long stem in natural wood, fitted by socket into the fornello. The length of the cannello (24 cm total) allows the smoke to cool before reaching the mouth, ensuring a use experience typical of long-stem pipes.

Bocchino: Features a slight final curvature, characteristic of models designed for a relaxed posture.

Technical Characteristics:
Total length: 24 cm.
Fornello dimensions: Height 5 cm.
Weight: Extremely light, only 38 grams.
Materials: Terracotta (fired clay) and wood.

Condition:
The item is in good vintage condition. The terracotta shows a beautiful patina of time that confirms its authenticity. No significant structural cracks are evident. (Note: As these are natural and ancient materials, small irregularities should be considered part of the historical charm of the piece).

An indispensable piece for collectors of smoking paraphernalia (tobacciana) or for those who love ethnographic and folk artifacts. Its minimalist line and humble yet noble materials also make it a perfect decorative complement for studies or antique shop displays.

Shipping: The pipe will be packed with extreme care to protect both the terracotta fornello and the wooden cannello, ensuring perfect delivery via tracked shipping.
