Description from the seller

Old Senegal flag made of thick high-quality cotton. The star is applied by screen printing.

The flag was officially adopted on August 20, 1960, when Senegal became fully independent from France.
• The design is inspired by the French tricolor (three vertical stripes), but the colors are the Pan-African colors (green, yellow and red), symbolizing African unity and independence.
• The flag closely resembles that of Mali, with which Senegal was briefly in a federation (the Mali Federation, 1959–1960). When the union dissolved, Senegal replaced the symbol in the center with the green star.

This flag has been in use since 1960 and is a strong symbol of both national identity and African independence.

Dimensions: 289 x 135 cm
