Original double-page lithograph - Maeght 1963 - Derrière le Miroir No. 141, in excellent condition, framed
Lithograph dimensions: 38 cm x 56 cm (slight original vertical crease in the center of the sheet)
Dimensions with frame: 40 cm x 60 cm
DLM published in November 1963 for the exhibition of 6 large Calder stabiles at Galerie Maeght. Texts by James Lord and Michel Ragon. 36 unbound pages. 8 original color lithographs, of which 3 are double-page, and 11 black-and-white reproductions. Original print run.
Short excerpt from biography:
1950 - Beginning of the association of Alexander Calder with the Maeght gallery in Paris, where he exhibited several mobiles and stabiles. He designed the cover of “Derrière le miroir,” which served as the poster for the exhibition. The year 1951 was marked by an exhibition with Joan Miró at the Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston. In 1952, he received the first prize for sculpture at the Venice Biennale. Alexander Calder temporarily settled in France in the region of Aix-en-Provence and devoted himself entirely to gouache and printmaking techniques.
Alexander Calder received the Gold Medal of the Architectural League of New York and was elected to the National Institute of Arts and Letters.
