Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Waterman Ideal 452 fountain pen with a gold‑plated body and cap, made in the United States in the first half of the 20th century, 135 mm long and 11.5 mm in diameter, in good used condition and fully functional with a lever fill system.
Description from the seller
The Waterman’s Ideal fountain pen No. 452 is presented in very good condition, especially notable given its age, dating from the 1920s.
The body and cap with gilded coating retain a warm, even sheen, with the diamond-like geometric engraving perfectly defined, deep and legible over its entire surface. There are light surface marks and micro-signs of use, typical of an original vintage piece, visible only upon close inspection and which do not affect the pen’s aesthetics or structural integrity.
The original Waterman “Ideal” clip is correctly aligned, firm, and without deformations, maintaining both its functionality and aesthetic presence. The black Ebonite trim preserves its original shape, with a natural patina appropriate to its age, without cracks or breaks.
The lever-fill system is original and operational, with the lever properly integrated into the body, free of play or visible deformations. The internal mechanism responds adequately, allowing ink filling as per its original design.
The Waterman’s Ideal nib, solid 14-carat gold, is in very good condition, with crisp engravings and a well-defined heart-shaped breather hole. It shows no cracks, repairs, or deformations. The tip displays uniform, moderate wear, compatible with careful use over time.
Overall, this is an authentic pen, well preserved and mechanically functional, fully consistent with its era, ideal for discerning collectors as well as users who value usable historical pieces.
It will be shipped in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
