Box - Oak - Antique school bag

Beautiful antique wooden schoolbag with a small crest and nicely carved sliding lid bearing a monogram of F.A 1 anno 1804. The lid can be slid up from the front, behind which there is storage where the slates (griffel and lei) and writing implements were kept. The back of the sliding part could also be used as a writing surface. Decorative and a nice piece of provincial folk art. It can also be hung or serve as a small chest for storing things; see photos for the condition. We will carefully wrap this old item and ship it insured.
