Alfredo Santarelli - Dish - mirror-polished ceramic

Ornamental plate in lustre ceramic, early 20th century, with a gold-colored monogram of Alfredo Santarelli. The center of the plate features the portrait of a warrior with a crested helmet, a recurring theme of parade ceramics produced in Gualdo Tadino in the 1920s. The lip/border is adorned with rich vegetal scrolls (raffaellesque) and fantastic figures; the use of golden metallic and iridescent reflections is the hallmark of Santarelli's production.
