Tray - Art Nouveau display stand. Thistle - NANCY

Serving or presentation tray from the Art Nouveau period circa 1910-1914. Dinanderie composed of a hammered copper plate with at the center a carved escutcheon featuring a thistle and the Cross of Lorraine with the inscription "NANCY". A gallery in brass rods completes the tray, the handles being slightly taller than the height of the gallery. No marks or signatures apparent on this antique object. In good condition, no breaks, knocks, chips or restorations, normal wear for a piece about 100 years old (last photo, before a brief cleaning!). Maximum height 6.5 cm, square base 33.5 cm on each side, diagonal from mitre to mitre and 28.5 cm flat-to-flat opposite. Weighs almost 1.7 kg.
