Montblanc 142 Masterpiece fountain pen, body and cap in black resin with gold-plated accents, 14k gold nib, length 12.7 cm, diameter 1.1 cm, made in Germany in the mid‑20th century, one item, in good used condition and fully functional.
Description from the seller
The Montblanc 142 Masterpiece fountain pen presented here shows a very attractive overall condition, with remarkable preservation reflecting careful use over time.
The body and cap, made of high-quality black resin, maintain a deep, uniform shine, with light micro-scratches typical of normal use, visible only upon close inspection. No cracks, dents, or deformations are apparent, indicating excellent structural integrity. The transparency of the barrel allows a hint of the clean interior, adding extra value to the piece.
The golden bands preserve a very good finish, with homogeneous gold plating and no significant losses. The cap ring bears crisp, well-defined engravings, with the “Montblanc” mark fully legible, reinforcing its authenticity and good condition.
The clip, of a classic design, is firm, well aligned, and with a prominent shine, without deformations or notable wear, maintaining all its original elegance.
The original Montblanc nib in 14-carat gold (14K) is in very good condition. It retains its correct geometry, no visible deformation in the shoulders, and with well-defined iridium. The feed shows normal signs of use, but without damage, ensuring proper flow. The pen has been serviced and is delivered in perfect working order, ready to write.
The charging system, in keeping with its era, has been tested and functions correctly, ensuring a reliable writing experience.
It is worth noting the presence of the engraving “142” at the end of the body, clearly visible and well defined, a detail especially appreciated by collectors.
Conclusion on the condition:
This is a specimen in very good overall condition, with light signs of use consistent with its age, yet maintaining a very careful aesthetic and fully operational performance.
Conservation recommendations
To preserve this piece in optimal condition, it is recommended to use high-quality fountain pen inks, avoid pigmented inks, periodically clean with lukewarm water if not used for a while, dry it completely before storing, keep it in a dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, and operate the filling system gently.
It will be shipped in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
