Set of nine large water glasses in the French Gondole style, crystal with flat rib Côte plates and a double baluster stem, dating to circa 1900–1920, transparent crystal, height 15 cm and drinking diameter 7.8 cm, in excellent condition with only minimal signs of wear.
Description from the seller
Elegant and impressive set of nine large water glasses in the refined French Gondole style, featuring the distinctive taille côtes plates and a beautifully crafted double baluster stem (jambe double balustre).
These substantial goblets are characterized by their generous bowls, finely cut with vertical flat ribs (côtes plates), creating a sophisticated interplay of light and brilliance.
Please note that, as these are antique hand-blown crystal pieces, slight variations may be present in weight, thickness, and proportions. Some glasses may feel subtly heavier or thicker due to the artisanal nature of their production, where the amount of crystal used and the blowing technique could vary from piece to piece. Unlike modern standardized manufacturing, antique craftsmanship was guided by traditional methods and measurements, which naturally result in these minor differences.
Their remarkable size and weight give a true sense of presence and quality, making them ideal for formal dining, refined table settings, or discerning collectors of fine European glassware.
A striking and elegant ensemble, perfect as both a functional service and a decorative statement.
