Description from the seller
Beautiful and characterful wall console from the 1930s, made of solid wood and richly hand-carved.
This decorative object breathes the atmosphere of the interwar period, a time when craftsmanship and expressive forms came together in interior decoration.
The console is shaped with powerful, flowing lines and deeply carved foliate and scroll motifs. The sculptural construction and the tactile relief give the piece an almost architectural appearance. Such consoles were often used in the 1920s and 1930s as decorative supports for small objects, statues or plants, and formed a stylish accent in both classical and more expressionist interiors.
The dark, warm patina emphasizes the wood and the depth of the carving.
The console is fitted with a hanging option at the rear and is ready to use immediately.
Stylistically, this object shows influences of the Amsterdam School and Art Deco, where decorative forms, craftsmanship and expression are central.
A remarkable piece that is both functional and decorative.
