Two decorative bound volumes of the Old and New Testament, in German translation by Martin Luther, published 1899–1900 by Heinrich Brandt in Berlin, in blue cloth with gold tooling, measuring 29 by 22 cm and totaling 600 pages, with age‑related state and minor foxing but binding remains intact.

Two decorative volumes of the Old and New Testament according to the German translation by Martin Luther, published 1899 and 1900 in Berlin (publisher: Heinrich Grund).
The editions were issued in connection with the inauguration of the German Evangelical Church of the Redeemer in Jerusalem (1898) and reflect the historical context of the German presence in the Holy Land during the period of the German Empire.
Both volumes have their original, richly gold-tooled publisher's bindings, made of dark blue linen with Christian symbolism (including Chi-Rho, the symbols of the Evangelists, floral ornaments).
The works are richly illustrated:
New Testament: with 97 illustrations and maps
Old Testament: with 162 illustrations and maps
Condition:
Age-appropriate condition
Partially foxing, especially on endpapers and some inner pages
Bindings with light signs of use
Bindings stable, complete
