The round glass shade is made of decorative craquelé glass (also called crackle glass). This technique originated by rapidly cooling hot glass, creating a network of fine cracks in the glass. The glass is then re-heated so that the structure is preserved. The result is a fascinating pattern that breaks the light in a unique way.

When the lamp is lit, a spectacle of light reflections is created on walls and ceiling. The glass spreads the light softly and warmly, creating a cozy ambiance. This effect made such lamps particularly popular in modern interiors from the mid-century period.
