Extraordinary original lithographic manifesto (NO copies, NO reproductions) of the American Export Lines shipping company, dedicated to the famous ships SS Independence and SS Constitution, icons of luxury transatlantic travel between Europe and the United States.
The composition has exceptional visual impact: a large ocean liner viewed from above, with decks animated by passengers, pools and sports activities, rendered with dynamic graphics and vibrant colors typical of the great era of travel posters from the 1930s and 1940s.
The poster promotes the prestigious “Route of the Sun,” linking Naples, Genoa, Cannes, Gibraltar and New York, perfectly embodying the myth of elegant travel and elite international tourism.
Work signed by the great illustrator George Penavey, an active figure in French advertising graphics and known for high-level transportation and tourism posters.
