Description from the seller

Up for auction is a nice full size Maggini copy violin for professional musician or collector. The label says: Georges Chanot a Paris annee 1853. The strongly flamed two pieces maple back measures 365 mm. The total length of the violin is 596 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 168 mm; middle bouts: 119 mm; lower bouts: 207 mm. There are no cracks or repairs. Original golden amber varnish remains in good condition. Double inlaid purfling, very nice made. Typically for french work black stripes on scroll and sides. This tonally extremely interesting instrument is now ready to play, and i recommend it highly for its large, warm, sweet sound full of typically french character. If you have any questions, or need additional photos, please don't hesitate to contact me. Shipping worldwide insured

Violins and bows described as 'certified' or 'attributed' include images of their certificates and are therefore considered to have a higher degree of documented certainty regarding maker, origin, and age than instruments described only as 'labelled' (violins) or 'stamped' (bows), for which we provide no guarantee of any kind
