Questo barometro è firmato dal Cav. Vittorio Barbera, situato storicamente in Via Roma 201 - 202 a Napoli. Sotto il logo centrale è visibile il marchio della fabbrica Lufft, una storica azienda tedesca fondata nel 1881, nota per la produzione di strumenti meteorologici di alta precisione come barometri e termometri fin dal XIX secolo. 
Il quadrante in lingua italiana presenta le classiche indicazioni meteorologiche basate sulla pressione atmosferica: 
Tempesta: Pressione molto bassa, indica un forte peggioramento.
Pioggia: Bassa pressione, tempo instabile o perturbazioni in arrivo.
Variabile: Pressione media, tempo incerto.
Bel Tempo: Alta pressione, condizioni di cielo sereno o stabile.
Gran Secco: Pressione molto alta, tempo estremamente stabile e asciutto. 
Per leggere lo strumento, si osserva la lancetta nera, che indica la pressione attuale misurata in centimetri di mercurio (la scala numerica esterna che va da 72 a 80). 
Articoli simili di produzione tedesca (Lufft) o italiana della metà del XX secolo sono spesso ricercati come pezzi da collezione o complementi d'arredo.
Questo oggetto in particolare era utilizzato nelle cambuse di nave.
